About

Murrumbidgee Council provides services and support to a community of 3,933 permanent residents in Coleambally, Darlington Point and Jerilderie. Murrumbidgee Council was proclaimed on 12 May 2016, following the amalgamation of the former Jerilderie Shire Council and Murrumbidgee Shire Council into one strong, cohesive and efficient organisation. The Council area is a thriving agricultural region, covering an area of 6,685 square kilometres including over 100 kilometres of natural river frontage to the Murrumbidgee River. The longest creek in Australia, the Billabong Creek, also runs through the Council. The new Council is committed to maintaining a high level of customer service to the local community.
