Helen Dalton MP INDEPENDENT MEMBER FOR MURRAY PARL MEN NSW This month I'm continuing to focus on effective and relevant health care for everyone across the electorate and continuing my push for a split from the Murrumbidgee Local Health District. The problem is that our Local Health District is not local at all. It's run and controlled by distant bureaucrats in Wagga that don't understand our unique needs. That system of management ignores local input, delivers fewer services and fails to meet the real needs of our people. Doctors, nurses and community leaders all agree that this system is not working for the Western Riverina. The solution is local health governance. Creating an independent Western Riverina Local Health District would allow decisions to be made locally, by people who understand our community. It would mean better services that would restore surgery, paediatrics, mental health, and specialist care. It would mean targeted recruitment and support for nurses and medical professionals and less travel for care. It would also mean shorter wait times. This isn't just about Griffith - it's about giving a voice to towns like: Balranald, Barham, Berrigan, Deniliquin, Finley, Hay, Hillston, Jerilderie, Lake Cargelligo, Leeton, Moulamein, Tocumwal, and Wentworth. We want rural health care built around our realities - not Wagga's decisions. We're calling for a system where our hospitals, clinics, and communities have control, and the resources to deliver the health care we deserve. Let's put community back into care. Download the petition from my Facebook page and return it to the Post Office Box on the bottom of the sheet. Every signature gets us a step closer to independent health care in the Western Riverina.
