Helen Dalton MP INDEPENDENT MEMBER FOR MURRAY PARE MEN NSW It was a huge win for rural and remote communities this month with WIN TV and Channel 7 returning free to air tv to some of us out here, having pulled the plug on us early in the month. I met with executives from both companies and urged them to resolve their dispute over who pays for what, convincing them that their dispute over financial arrangements was not just detrimental to their organisations, but would have a widespread impact across our electorate. As we know, connectivity and communications are critical to all of us out where we live, and I made the networks understand that free to air TV still plays a very important role in the lives of many people in regional Australia and that they need to respect that fact. In other news, I also read my Bill called the Water Management Amendment (Register of State and Commonwealth Water Access Licences) Bill 2025 for the second time last week. The Bill will force the Minister for Water, the Hon. Rose Jackson, to set up a public register showing every licence, including the tracking of rules- based water, held by the New South Wales or Commonwealth governments, including how much is owned, where it is from, what it is used for and how it is traded. The register must be online, easy to find, easy to understand and located in one department area. It simply states that if governments hold water, the public should know where, how much and why, Because right now, we do not. Authorised by Helen Dalton MP, Funded using Parliamentary Entitlements.
